Rheological assessment of metakaolin‐based geopolymer composites through squeeze flow

چکیده
Abstract Geopolymer (GP) composites show great potential as a replacement for ordinary Portland cement (OPC) in construction material, extrusion‐based, and additive manufacturing. The rheological properties of highly viscous reinforced systems have not yet been well studied, due to limitations the current state art rheometers viscometers, such size torque limits. In this study, basic reinforced, geopolymer with 3D printing are innovatively investigated “squeeze flow” “flow table” tests commonly used civil engineering. Squeeze‐flow rates 0.1, 1.0, 3.0 mm/s were assessed varying sand weight percentages or basalt fiber lengths compared conventional OPC mixture differentiate flow deformation resistance both materials. It is shown that result jamming increases increasing solid reinforcement percentages, but overall effect somewhat inconclusive. addition, squeeze‐flow rate exhibits an increase load required initiate at lower squeezing rates, but, upon reaching certain ratio solids liquid matrix, results become variable.

Synthesis and Characterization of Novel Epoxy Geopolymer Hybrid Composites
The preparation and the characterization of novel geopolymer-based hybrid composites are reported. These materials have been prepared through an innovative synthetic approach, based on a co-reticulation in mild conditions of commercial epoxy based organic resins and a metakaolin-based geopolymer inorganic matrix. This synthetic strategy allows the obtainment of a homogeneous dispersion of the o...
متن کاملThe Brittleness and Chemical Stability of Optimized Geopolymer Composites
Geopolymers are known as high strength and durable construction materials but have a brittle fracture. In practice, this results in a sudden collapse at ultimate load, without any chance of preventing the breakdown of parts or of withstanding the stress for some time. Glass fiber usage as a total anisotropic shape acting as a compact structure component should hinder the fracture mechanism. The...
متن کاملInvestigation of Mechanical Properties of Lithium-Based Geopolymer Composites Reinforced with Basalt Fibers
Recently, geopolymer binders have been considered because of low cost, simple processes for synthesis and many raw materials in nature. Geopolymer with brittle nature does not have high strength and cannot be used alone for structural materials. Therefore, to use in different structures, the composite which is reinforced with fibers such as carbon, glass, basalt, etchasbeen used. In this resear...
متن کاملFlow of electro-rheological materials
An electro-rheological fluid is a material in which a particulate solid is suspended in an electrically non-conducting fluid such as oil. On the application of an electric field, the viscosity and other material properties undergo dramatic and significant changes. In this paper, the particulate imbedded fluid is considered as a homogeneous continuum. I t is assumed that the Cauchy stress depend...
متن کاملNumerical Simulations of Constant Velocity Squeeze Flow
The paper is dedicated to the investigations of purely viscous fluids in constant velocity squeeze flow, between two parallel disks. The influence of fluid rheological properties on normal force distribution and the interpretation of the obtained results is investigated. The analysis includes both experimental and numerical investigations. All results are being compared with theoretical predict...
